The University of Bath is a public research university located in Bath, Somerset, England. Following the Robbins Report, it obtained the Royal Charter in 1966, as well as many other institutions. Like the University of Bristol and the University of the West of England, Bath can trace its roots back to the Merchants’ Joint Technical College, founded in Bristol in 1595 by a school Merchants Association. The main campus of the university is located in Claverton Down, a site overlooking the city of Bath. It was specially constructed and built in 1964 in a contemporary style.
In the 2014 Excellent Research Framework, 32% of the research activities submitted by Bath received the highest classification of 4*, and was defined as the world leader in terms of originality, importance and rigor. 87% are rated as 4*/3* and are defined as world-leading/world-leading. The agency's annual revenue for 2017-18 was 287.9 million pounds, of which 37 million pounds came from research grants and contracts, and expenditures were 283.1 million pounds.
This university is a member association of the Commonwealth University MBA Association, the European Quality Improvement System, the European University Association, the British University and GW4.
