The main campus is located on 524 acres (2.12 km 2) of natural habitat, adjacent to the Houston community of Clear Lake. The branch campus was built in 1971 and was the first building on campus. This is the location of UHCL's acclaimed studio art program. It is also home to the Center for Autism and Developmental Disabilities, which supports research, trains current and future professionals, and provides outreach services to families through confidential face-to-face and telemedicine meetings.
