Edith Cowan University (ECU) is an Australian public university located in Perth, Western Australia. It was named after the first woman elected to the Australian Parliament, Edith Cowan, and is the only Australian university named after a woman.

ECU is located in Western Australia and has more than 30,000 undergraduate and graduate students, of which approximately 6,000 are international students from more than 100 countries outside of Australia.

ECU was granted university status in 1991. It is composed of teachers' colleges that merged with the history of Claremont Teachers College in 1902, making ECU the modern descendant of the first higher education institution in Western Australia.

The university offers more than 300 courses on two metropolitan campuses in Mount Lawley and Joondalup and a regional campus in the southwestern region of Bunbury, 200 kilometers south of Perth. Many courses also offer online learning. In addition, the university has established partnerships with a number of educational institutions to carry out courses and programs overseas.

Its departments include the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), which is an important performing arts training college. The College of Nursing and Midwifery offers large undergraduate nursing courses, and the College of Education offers a wide range of secondary teaching majors. The university also offers psychology and community studies courses and is home to WA Screen Academy (one of Australia's leading film schools).

In the 2019 Student Experience Survey, Edith Cowan University ranked fifth among all Australian universities in student satisfaction and the highest among all public universities in Western Australia, with an overall satisfaction rating of 83.3.
